Medications & Refills - Psychiatric Care

How do I request a refill?

Please submit your medication refill request through the portal at least one week before you run out. We hold clinic Monday through Wednesday for processing controlled substances refill requests, so any requests sent on Thursday or Friday will be handled the following Monday. Please allow up to a week for your psychiatric medications to be refilled.

Can I get a refill without being seen?

Not indefinitely. Ongoing prescriptions for controlled substances require ongoing visits, especially when handling medication refill requests for psychiatric medications.

My insurance denied my medication. What happens?

Your provider submits a prior authorization for your medication refill request, generally within one to three business days, and notifies you through the portal. The turnaround after submission is typically about three business days, though insurers set their own timelines. If you’re out of your psychiatric medications or will be within 72 hours, please inform us — that raises the urgency, and your provider will assess whether a bridge prescription for controlled substances refill is appropriate.

What if I have a bad reaction to a medication?

To request a medication refill, including for controlled substances, please contact us through the portal to schedule a visit. If you experience a severe reaction — such as trouble breathing, chest pain, a severe rash, swelling, or any life-threatening symptoms — call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately. Do not message and wait.
