No. All visits for psychiatric telemedicine must occur via video appointments only, and the patient must meet the patient technology requirements by being physically located in the state of New Mexico during the visit.
To meet the patient technology requirements for psychiatric telemedicine, you need a device equipped with a functioning camera and microphone, a stable connection, and a private space where you can speak freely during video appointments. It's also essential that you are physically located in New Mexico.
Your provider ends the session and sends a new link through the portal, waiting up to five minutes. If you reconnect, the psychiatric telemedicine session resumes. If not, it will be rescheduled, and you can easily self-reschedule through the portal, which is the only channel for communication. Please note that to meet patient technology requirements, your provider will not call you by phone for video appointments.
Provider-side failure or platform outage: you will never be charged; rescheduling for psychiatric telemedicine video appointments will incur no cost. For patient-side failures or unknown causes, you may have up to three excused failures within a rolling 12-month period, provided you notify us through the portal within 24 hours. Rural patients are always exempt from these requirements. If there is no connection and no notification within 24 hours, it will be treated as a standard no-show.
After more than three failures in a rolling six months, your provider will discuss the cause with you and evaluate whether psychiatric telemedicine or video appointments meet your patient technology requirements. Sometimes, the honest answer is that an in-person practice would serve you better.
